dear friends,
i received the call from manoy de la cruz...late afternoon of june 12 2009. he is inviting me to join the VWCP Bulacan chapter meeting in CALTEX MALOLOS at around 830pm.
i am helping sm baliuag events coordinator Miss Jeune Teodoro whose father is a VW fan and who shall be celebrating her birthday on June 22, 2009 so of course i said yes to manoy.
unknown to manoy..my orange bug which i acquired sometimes in april had to stay at the VW shop of Mang Mario in sumapa town and had so many things replaced she had to stay there for a month!
so i think i have but 50kms on her only since she came out of the hospital and last 9th of june after a week being left out in the rains (my open garage had 5 dogs who can shew parts of her in no time) the starter of orange bug bonked and i had to ask the help of mechanic mario to repair the starter.
so the 830pm meeting was set and after giving orange bug the Turtle wax treatment...i asked the help of my boy Nathaniel to ride with me so in case of emergency he can push the vw. My wife initially didnt want to go as she was tired. However when i was about to leave she decided to come along too.
we left at about 8pm. At the sta rita toll gate i saw a house lizard she is stuck on my windshield so i asked my wife the photographer to take a photo shoot. well lizards are a lucky charm here in the Philippines and never gets killed so i want the foto taken. I have been driving for 20 years already but after 10 years not being able to drive around in a VW bug...i feel like a teenager again and im kinda nervous and choking...what if something go wrong...how much will the Superhighway tow truck charge me bring me back to sta rita exit?
wow when i stepped on the gas pedal..the orange bug accelerated so fast i had to slow her down a bit..it sees somethings wrong with the speedo...which says its only 70kph but we are overtaking a lot of buses already..this orange bug can fly!
in 20 minutes we are at the Caltex station..met some fellow VW enthusiasts waited for others and had the formal meeting.
i had asked my wife to take some fotos. why is it the meetings have to be in the evenings..the fotos dont look clear! anyway the club said we will be meeting this sunday June 14 2009 at QC City Hall for world Volkswagon day celebrations...and come June 21 2009 we will be riding in convoy from SM MARILAO to SM BALIUAG town in Bulacan.
Meeting got adjourned at around 1030 and so we headed back home to Sta rita town this time taking the Mc arthur highway..wow this was one sweet JOY ride and orange bug passed with flying colors.
cant wait to take orange bug to Quezon City bug meet this sunday.
